Our annual healing retreat for men is an opportunity for you to rediscover and connect with your inner child.
At our annual healing retreat for mothers, you will learn to understand how your own healing may benefit your child and family, process your own wounds, and learn to foster healthy boundaries within your home.
At our annual retreat for fathers, you will receive training and develop skills that will help to secure and stabilize a strong attachment with your child.
Our year-long parenting course meets over Zoom video. In this class, you will meet other parents who are learning new skills and understanding how real love may be demonstrated in your home.
November 17-19, 2023
This weekend will give you the opportunity to connect with other fathers that are in the same position as you, and learn together how you can rise up and face the challenges that affect our families and children! You will gain great insight into your child’s needs by learning, growing, and taking part in group activities with each other during this interactive weekend!
You will be empowered by understanding how your own background has influenced your parenting, while at the same time, realizing how you can lead your children and family into a healthier future.
This weekend away is set at a beautiful country farmhouse retreat in rural Maryland. Our small group of fathers is a safe place to process, learn, and heal. You will leave with answers, tools, techniques, and hope to help yourself, your child, and your family.

I didn't realize how much of my identity, beliefs, values, and behaviors as an adult were tied to my childhood experience. Having been able to understand the background of my childhood can be reviewed and reprocessed really helped me to break free of some bad habits, bad beliefs, and grow as a person. I also became aware of family patterns that were unhealthy and now I have broken those patterns and will not pass them onto my children.

I was able to accept myself for the first time in my life in my own skin, down to my core. I know now that I was created to be artistic and sensitive, passionate and beautifully unique! My heart feels warm as if light is shining in places that have never seen the light before, almost like the first day of a new life! A wall came down.

The weekend is designed for mothers of a same-sex attracted or gay-identified child. The goal is for each mother to grow personally and as a Parent/Coach, to learn how to better love and understand your struggling child, and to uncover how your own unresolved issues may be blocking your family’s path to healing.

The Mother's Healing Weekend was an awesome experience. We are all struggling... In the shared struggle, my burden is lighter... I am breathing easier. This journey is bearable. I am moving forward with love and confidence. I no longer feel the panic. It is gone. The "I-need-this-to-be-over-now" feeling is gone. I am peaceful, restful, stilled. I am filled.
All healing retreats are led by IHF Executive Director, Christopher Doyle, MA, LPC, LCPC. Retreats for mothers and fathers also have co-facilitation by an expert in family and relational coaching, Hilde Wiemann.
Some clients who live near each other reduce the amount of their expenses by sharing a ride to and from the retreat location. Email us if you are interested in ride sharing with another participant.
A payment deposit must be received at the time of registration equal to half the cost of the retreat. Full payment is due by the date specified in the deposit confirmation email or according to special agreement with IHF.

Scholarships are based on financial need for the cost of the retreat, not for airfare or travel expenses. Payment plans are also possible.
